Co-op housing

In the new district of Centrumeiland a considerable number of individual self-build houses and co-op housing are being realized. Some of the plots are reserved for small groups of individuals who will realize a small apartment building together.

 Our studio designed three of those projects. The first apartment building on plot 09-12 is being built at this moment.

The new building on the corner of Van Gamerenstraat en Virginiastraat houses four apartments. Each apartment has a large kitchen space behind the sunny front facade facing the small square. On the flat roof a collective roof terrace will be realized and behind the building a communal garden will be created. Two of the four apartments have their own private garages that will be accessible from Virginiastraat.


The front facade facing the public square will be of exceptional sculptural quality. A striking and layered composition is created by applying brick to both the outer and the inner facades of the loggias. In the side facade slender horizontal concrete elements create a strong sense of coherence with the overall facade composition.
